Want your Karen Walker for less? Fancy yourself a Chanel fan but lack the Chanel budget? If there is one word you need to learn it’s ‘diffusion’! nzgirl have the best guide to getting your ‘diffusion inclusion’, meaning more designer for less money!
Top Shop, H&M and Target...
Before the emails begin, yes none of these stores are in New Zealand. But there is such a thing as international shipping, eBay and friends in other countries. Whatever way you get the goodies to you really doesn’t matter at the end of the day. After all, by shopping at these chains you can get the likes of Karl Lagerfield for under $50.00. Top Shop and H&M change up their designers but previous include Luella Bartley, Karl Largerfield and Zac Posen whilst Topshop has Kate Moss and their Boutique Range.
You want a designer wardrobe? More than likely you already have one! Whilst a bottle of perfume is not clothed in chiffon it is a designer product. And the great thing is nearly every fashion house now has a signature scent, from YSL Babydoll to Burberry Britt. The best thing about having a designer scent wardrobe is that a scent won’t go out of style like a red trench jacket would. Really it’s the clever way to buy designer.
Some designers don’t so much do a diffusion line, as they do a more affordable version of their designs. Usually targeting the younger budget (which thankfully most of us are part of!) it’s a cheaper way to get on that designer bandwagon. Think Marc for Marc Jacobs, Sylvester by Kate Sylvester and the Hi There by Karen Walker for Myer lines.
You don’t have to go for the most obvious designer inspired option to get your next piece of Collete Dinigham. A surprising amount of designers do off tangent lines of everything from fashion illustration to home wares to lingerie and sportswear. These are of course going to be cheaper than the runway designs but they are going to be just as beautiful. Stella McCartney’s sportswear line for Adidas is a shining example of this in practice.
