This month on nzgirl it's all about empowering you with the knowledge you need to be informed, engaging you on topical issues like the upcoming elections and the environment and activating you to make a stand and have your voice heard!

Ghandi famously once said, that you have to "be the change you want to see in the world" and I think this continues to ring true even today. Whether you're trying to impact change on the life of one person, or the lives of millions, it requires you to change gears from passive observer to active initiator!

We also have an office saying that if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. Having something to believe in, a backbone that guides and drives you (even if you're a fence sitting Libra) will ensure you live a life worth living.

2008 marks another year of elections. Our mission possible is to engage as many nzgirls on issues that affect them and empower them to make a conscience voting decision and turn you from apathetic to a true Actionista! We'll be arming you with election checklists and speaking to some politicians to get the d-low on why they deserve our vote and we deserve them to watch out for us in power!

2008 also marks a time when we are all faced with a changing global environment! You could say this is also our green issue! Look out for eco focussed fashion, natural beauty tips and simple easy ways to convert to an eco chic warrior, not worrier! After all, it's not about doing without, it's about doing it differently!

We'll also be launching the first nzgirl Actionista awards. We want to recognise local, national and international Actionistas who are shining examples of women who are doing us all proud. Stay tuned!
