I grew up in London, England, so my actual hood was South London. But I think where my roots are now is Auckland, New Zealand, so I'll tell you about my fav spots here... Ponsonby Road The best thing about Ponsonby is the action and the feeling that just by being there you're a part of something. I love it in the summer when you can walk down the road and just stop off in various bars and cafes. When I first moved to NZ I lived in the burbs and would visit my friend Jade who lived in Ponsonby. All the cool interesting kids from my school lived there and it was always exciting getting the bus from Queen St up to Ponsonby.
Pakiri
This is the home land of one of my best friends and it's a wonderful untouched part of NZ. I feel like I'm part of a NZ that existed many, many years ago when I'm frolicking on the beach and playing in the sea.
She was married earlier this year at her parents Pakiri home and the next day the wedding party walked down to the beach and all swam together and drank cold beer. It was heaven. In fact I'm hoping Heaven will be like Pakiri.
Tamaki Drive
I love to drive along Tamaki Drive and look out at Rangitoto and see all the people power walking and going on those silly tandem bikes. It was one of the first places we drove along when we first immigrated to NZ and it's held a special place in my heart since. It's where we take visitors from the UK to show off that it used to be our drive to work.
Albert Park
So many late nights, music events, stolen kisses and drinking cheap wine from a cask happened in Albert Park. It's such a beautiful park and it's so bloody steep to get to it's like a reward in itself.
Verona
Verona has been on K Road for as long as I can remember. I love the colour and the atmosphere and the range of organic foods they have on offer. It's a great place to watch the world go by.
