About You
Sex without the strings: Can it work?

It’s an age old question; does sex without the strings really work? Is it possible to have a purely physical relationship, without getting too attached and involved?

Is it right for you? And what do you do if you’re in that situation but want to get out of it? We take a look…

Sex without the strings may be great if you’re freshly out of a long term relationship and aren’t quite ready to commit yourself fully to another person. Or maybe you’ve met someone that you’re physically attracted too, but there’s not much beyond that... Let’s face it, we’re all human and all need some kind of touch at some stage or another!

Is if for you?
It may sound like a pretty heartless idea, (and to be honest, it is) but for different people, and at different stages in their lives, it can be just the kind of ‘situation’ they need. If you’ve come out of a serious or long term relationship and haven’t totally healed, or love your independence as a single girl, but don’t want to turn into a celibate nun, this could be a good temporary option for you.

The pros
If you’re not keen on a long term relationship – sex without the strings could work for you, however it’s not an easy road! You’d have the comfort of knowing there’s someone you can (probably) go to if you ever feel lonely and want a bit of bed time action, and it can be a lot of fun. It’s like a relationship without any of the serious commitments and responsibilities, and therefore (hopefully) without the dramas too!

The cons
Sex without the strings is definitely one of those concepts which sounds awesome in writing, however is a lot trickier to pull off in real life. It’s all good to say that you won’t let yourselves get attached – but with something as intimate as sex, it can be hard to keep the lines straight. You can’t control your emotions, and as soon as either one of you has a change of heart (which is totally imminent), you’re little agreement is going to get tricky.

What to do
If you’re going to embark on a sex without the strings deal, than enter with caution! We’ve got some great tips to help you out, and to constantly ensure that you are doing the right thing for you (that’s the most important thing after all!).

Communication is a huge thing. Make sure you both know exactly where you stand with each other. That you know what to expect of each other – things like is it OK to see other people? Be upfront with your feelings and knowing exactly how much you can rely on one and other. It’s tricky because you obviously like each other, but just how much? So make sure you’re constantly keeping on top of what’s going on.

If there’s ever a stage where you aren’t feeling happy, it’s probably a sign that this isn’t for you. Talk to him about it and let him know what’s going on – if it’s not working for you than you shouldn’t just keep on keeping on! Mr Right could be just around the corner and you don’t want to miss out on him just because you were killing time with Mr Right Now.

Sex without the strings can be a great temporary fix to help you get back on track, and it can also lead into a terrible spiral of drama, complications and heartbreak, so enter with caution, and remember to always do what’s going to be best for you in the long run!
