Welcome to 2009! Whether you're back at work or still on holiday we've got loads of goodies to help keep you feeling the summer love! Click here for a taste of what we've got...
This month’s theme is all about you getting out there and making your own mark.
And when it comes to the world of fashion, it couldn’t be easier! Anya shares her favourite ways to become a fashion idol; without worrying about gruelling job interviews or million dollar wardrobes!
Become a fashion designer
Threadless.com has become a bit of a revolution in the field of fashion; allowing anyone to upload their very own t-shirt designs, have them critiqued by their peers, and if they are lucky get it made into a tee that’s then sold by the company. Not only is it a fun past time and a great way to get your designs out there, it has launched designers as a whole and given others cult followings. If you’re not one to design then you can always support the kids that do by purchasing some Threadless tees, whilst getting yourself some great, limited edition design fun.

Be a stylist to your very own fashion shoot
Always thought you could do better than the team from Vogue? Head along to Polyvore.com and style your very own fashion shoots. All you need is a free membership and a little time, and you can be styling like the best of them. You can even enter competitions and win prizes, meet friends and share sets. If this sounds like you, make sure you check out the nzgirl’s Next Style Idol competition and be in to win the ultimate style goodie bag!
Follow in the footsteps of Galadarling or Jess from Popartpistol and start your very own blog that lets you share your fashion skew with the world. Who needs to work for a fashion magazine?! Blog platforms like Blogger and Livejournal are free and easy to use, allowing you to set up a profile in mere minutes. Then all you need is some handy imagery, a few words and a keen eye and your set!
Who says you need to be signed to a major modelling agency, and owning a wardrobe of Marchesa dresses to be a model? It’s not all about the runway baby! Instead why not take daily photos of your outfits and post them to a community. I love the wardrobe remix pool on Flickr because it’s so diverse and you get a lot of different people posing there. From people with $5.00 thrift store outfits, to people who have immense wardrobes and plenty of obscure designers to fill it!
Fancy yourself a bit of an expert when it comes to capturing beautiful images? Love the work of Steven Miesel and Steven Klein? Arm yourself with a digital camera and hit the streets. You don’t need to be attached to a major publication and the owner of thousands of dollars worth of photography gear to be the next big thing in fashion photography (although let’s be honest it helps). Find your muses on the sidewalks, and take your cues from the likes of The Satoralist or hit the parties and be the next Neon Sleep.
