Looking for a new season work look? We’ve taken the hard work out of finding a seasonal summer wardrobe by picking ten key items that we love. If your budget is constrained don’t be afraid to look further than our suggestions as not all of these styles will be available in all stores up and down the country.
The basics
Our basics cover everything you need from the summer season. Every nzgirl needs a great high waist item to form the basis of her wardrobe, I love these classic pants. A beige top is the new approach to white and so much more flattering! Floaty tunic dresses are key, and can be worn as a dress, skirt or top, whilst a pop of summer worthy coral and the shirting trend are combined into the trusty shirt. Always grab a statement belt – it just adds so much impact easily to outfits. A light weight cardigan is essential for summer season office dressing. Lastly don’t leave home with out the accessories. The giant bag is downsized to a more useable size this season – and keep it in a rosey toned leather (it’s a big new season trend). A flat and a heel can both be picked up cheaply (let’s be honest they won’t get that much wear out of the office) and you just know that a statement necklace will earn comments - I loved the colours on our pick.
Pair your long length (8) with your trusty pair of pants (1), tucking in to show off that high waist. Swap out the black belt for the gold one (6) and slip on your heels (4) and necklace (6). The look is put together, fresh and full of colour. Perfect for dull, drab Monday mornings in need of a total lift.
Tuesday: A New Neutral
Your black pants make their mark again (1), this time with your tank (2) heels (4) and fantastic neutral handbag (9). Pick up the colour with a statement cardigan, I love the colour on the cheapie we found at Valleygirl (3).
Wednesday: Layer up
The Carnaby slip from Moochi is a great black dress staple (make sure to wear a slip underneath though!) and belting at the waist (7) introduces some colour. The neutral heel (4) gives height and keep the cardi (3) on hand to keep the chill off if needed.
Thursday: Shirt come jacket
Your high waist pants come to the rescue again today (1) this time your tank is tucked in (2) and your shirt thrown over the top unbuttoned (8). Belt the whole shebang at the waist (7) to add some tailoring and slip on your heels (4). Perfection.
Friday: Keep it casual
Black pants reign supreme (1) and look great with the sheer dress layered over the top tunic style (5). Give your feet a break and throw on your flats (10) and your cardi (3). All you need now is a bag to throw your life in (9).
