About You
Living the Dream

At the end of our interview last year, Reneé-Louise Carafice encouraged nzgirls, saying “don’t dream it, live it”.  She’s a woman of her words, for the past year since collecting the cash from her NESCAFÉ BIG BREAK win, she’s been living the dream.

“This time last year I entered NESCAFÉ BIG BREAK and was blown away when I won a cash award. I've since been on an incredible journey, having just returned to NZ after recording my debut album Playing The Lady at Electrical Audio in Chicago, USA. It's one of the best studios in the world and the album that resulted from our recording is beyond what I ever thought I could achieve.”

Reneé was one of five AUD$25,000 winners in the 2005 NESCAFÉ BIG BREAK awards and caught the hearts of voters with her story of triumph over personal demons and desire to make music.

“I am still absolutely glowing from the excitement of the time recording - it was the best thing I've ever done. I recorded with some of Chicago's finest musicians as a backing band, and fell in love with the city of Chicago so much that I’ve bought my ticket to move there permanently.

“What winning a NESCAFÉ BIG BREAK has done for me is beyond description, in terms of how far it’s driven my life from where it was six months ago. I’m so excited, and really loving life as it unfolds in unexpected ways.”

Other 2005 winners included Michal Imielski, Mischa Baka and Kelly Jong, who won a AUD$25,000 NESCAFÉ BIG BREAK to create a puppet show that is pure imagination on stage.

Rochelle Bright from Auckland put her AUD$25,000 NESCAFÉ BIG BREAK towards tuition at prestigious Tisch School of Arts in New York to aid her dream of becoming a musical theatre composer and playwright

William Archer is using his prize money to sell Australian stingless bee hives, the unique honey they produce, and also hire nests out to farmers for crop pollination

And who couldn’t love the ultimate winner, Adam Derrick who collected AUD$50,000 to help grow his business AJ Wheelie Cleaning and rid the world of stinky wheelie bins. We love it!

Got a dream you want to realise? It doesn’t have to be about climbing Mt Everest or curing cancer - but it could be. Big or small, NESCAFÉ BIG BREAK want to hear from you!

If you’re between 16 and 24 years old with a passion to turn a big idea into reality, get along to www.nescafebigbreak.co.nz and enter online. Entering NESCAFÉ BIG BREAK is easy, you just need to provide short answers to four questions! The site also features some hints for making sure your entry hits the spot. Entries close May 5th, so get thinking!

If you’ve got a big idea, here’s your chance to get the BIG BREAK you need.
