Gearing up for Christmas is stressful, but at least gift-wrapping this year will be a breeze.
To start, you need your wrapping paper. Black or white tissue paper works a treat for wrapping up things in. It will wrap to any shape, it's cheap (go the $2 Shop!) and it matches ANY ribbon colour.
It works as a basic theme and you can use ribbons and little touches to finalise the theme of the present.
Can't do fancy ribbons or bows? Use a plush fabric ribbon instead and a basic bow will look very snazzy. Or team up two thin ribbons in complementary colours and use both for wrapping up, this gives a great finish.
Use pink ribbons for girly wrapping, then take a few beads and string them through the hanging bit of the bow and tie a knot so they dangle.
To go for a nautical theme (for dad) buy some scrap booking charms and thread them on through the ribbon e.g. a little boat charm, an anchor etc. This can be repeated with other themes - golf, footy (little/older brother) or Christmas charms.
As for gran's or mum's present, pop down to Spotlight and while you're buying the fabric ribbons take a squiz at the wire stemmed little silk flowers. Since the stems are bendy you can just attach it to the middle of a bow for a nicely presented gift.
Another cheap decoration is to use is stickers. They make good decorations on the white/black tissue. Just a couple to highlight the bow - little gold stars or silver stars, always work a treat.
Some gift card ideas are…
Cut out cute pictures from your old "puppies" or “kittens” calendar and stick them on the front of a blank card. Everyone loves baby animals!
Photocopy or print off a photo of a picture of you and your friend/family member to cut out and stick on the front of a card.
For a floral look, press some fresh flowers and when they are flat and dry, glue them on to a coloured piece of paper e.g. a dried daffodil looks great against a blue square. Then stick that on the blank card so you have two edging backgrounds.
If you really want to go the extra mile, buy a little colouring-in book about A5 size and colour in some of the pictures (brings back kindy days!) Then cut it out and stick it on to a card with a pun heading the top. For example, use a picture of the sea with fish, seaweed, a treasure chest etc, stick it on a card then at the top use the heading "I treasure you".
