Welcome to 2009! Whether you're back at work or still on holiday we've got loads of goodies to help keep you feeling the summer love! Click here for a taste of what we've got...
Traditionally, it seems that romance has always been left up to the boys. Society implies that women need to be wooed and that men have to put in the hard work.
Remember how much it gave you butterflies the first time he surprised you with something thoughtful or took you on an impromptu picnic? Why do we assume that guys don't love the same kind of attention?
It's the 21st century and things have changed - it's time to start spoiling your guy. It doesn't have to be an expensive splash out, just something that shows that you are thinking of him. Here a few ideas...
Get a fun size pack of his favourite chocolate bars and attach a little note to each one that says something you love about him. Hide them in his bedroom and make him do a treasure hunt.
Sneak over to his house one day when you know he can't find the time to do his washing, and do it for him. (Just don't make it a habit!)
Pick him some flowers - even if they're just daisies - and leave them somewhere he'll find them.
Next time you borrow his car, surprise him by filling it up with petrol.
Wear his hoody next time you are cold. He'll love it when he puts it on and it smells like you.
Plan a night in to watch DVDs but pass up any chick flicks and pick all his favourites.
If your man is one that takes care of himself, pick up some yummy massage oil and surprise him with a foot massage. (If he's not so into hygiene, you can use it to blackmail him into scrubbing himself up!)
Surprise him with a day trip away. Even if it's just an hour’s drive up the coast to a friend's bach, he'll love the spontaneity.
Once a week, send him a random text telling him something that you find attractive about him. Girls aren't the only ones who need reassuring.
Make him dinner one night when he's had a long day. Even if it's only your favourite home made soup or a stir-fry, he'll appreciate it.
A lot of guys act staunch and blokey on the surface but it doesn't mean that they don't secretly enjoy the little things that you do.
Just last week, I was having after-work drinks at the Viaduct with my boyfriend and his mates when one of them told me how his new girlfriend had made his bed one morning and left a Mars bar under his pillow. "It's so mint the way she does that", he grinned, before coughing and quickly chugging back the rest of his beer.
So there you go girls, it's your month to make him melt - get thinking!
