About You
Me & My Car: Jenene's Porsche

With the launch of our 'Wheels' section, we thought it was about time that  nzgirls wrote in and told us about their cars.

'Me and My Car' will profile a different nzgirl and her hot car each month. If you'd like to submit your story, click on the button below.

There are some cars you never forget, even once they're no longer yours. When nzgirl's managing director, Jenene Freer, was 25 she had the ultimate car - a Porshe 911t. Read about her experiences with this too-hot-for-words vehicle.

Tell us about the car...
It was 1970 Porsche 911t, silver blue with chrome and blue leather interior.

What did it cost you?
Far too much! I paid $35k for it and then spent horrendous amounts of money on putting in a stereo system and alarm and then maintenance…

Why did you choose this car?
Seriously, do I need to give a reason – look at it! It was magnificent.

How long did you have it for?
Two years.

What did you love about your Porshe?
I loved the way it would purr when let out on the open road. I loved the old school feeling of no power steering or braking – you had to really drive the car, it wouldn’t drive you. I loved learning to use the clutch effectively and the gears to make the most out of her. So many people weren’t able to drive it, as it was quite difficult to manage. Of course, I loved that guys would drool over it incessantly and given I was single at the time, it was quite useful.

What were the downsides of owning this car?

The fact I had to sell it because it was costing too much money! It needed an engine recondition and I just wasn’t in the position to be able to keep throwing massive amounts of money at it. It needed to go to someone who would only drive it occasionally and have the time to spend fixing all the little things that would go wrong constantly.

Did you have any interesting experiences in the car?
Some of the most interesting experiences in my life happened in this car!
