Gig Guide: August 2007

2007 will forever be known as the year of the gigs. We've  already had fleeting visits from Gwen Stefani, Gym Class Heroes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Regina Spektor and The Shins amongst many others.
With the line up for up and coming gigs getting all the more impressive; here’s the low down on everyone and everything you need to know about to catch these big acts.
 Shapeshifter
With all these international acts coming, it’s important to remember to go and support our local artists. Voted ‘Best Live Act’ Drum N Bass outfit Shapeshifter are taking off around the country so check them out in a town near you.

 Linkin Park With Chris Cornell
Two hot acts in one concert - it doesn’t get much better than that! I would personally be more excited about seeing Chris Cornell (who you may better know as the vocalist in Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog). And Linkin Park? Well they aren’t going too badly themselves.

Fall Out Boy
 Yes there are back. Just a few months after their last show here, Fall Out Boy return pretty much because they love us and our beautiful country. I bet that put a smile on your little emo face.
Date: Monday October 1

Snow Patrol
 Another returnee that just couldn’t keep away, Snow Patrol are back for what will hopefully be another amazing show. Supporting acts include Op Shop and Ian Archer. As a bonus, each ticket purchased you score a copy of their latest album Final Straw.

Silverchair and Powderfinger
The Across the Divide Tour showcases what is arguably two of Australia’s top bands. This is going to be a gig to tell the grandkids about.

The Exponents with Supergroove
 Reunited kiwi rock legends The Exponents and Supergrove combine their powers for a gig that showcases some of our most classic kiwi rock in history. Don’t miss this opportunity to see these New Zealand greats.

Justin Timberlake
After months of rumours, it has finally been confirmed; Justin Timberlake IS bringing sexy back, all the way to  Aotearoa. His FutureSex/ LoveShow tour is sure to be a sell out, so make sure you get in quick.

My Chemical Romance
