Has the romance gone flat?
|
|
You’ve been with your boyfriend for a while now and you still love him to bits. The problem? Between work, the gym, catching up with the girls and his sporting commitments it seems like there’s never any time to show him how much you care.
Taking the time to cook a special meal and turn what could be another night slumped in front of the TV into something special isn’t that hard or expensive to do.
If you feel like you’re stuck on a day-to-day treadmill then we’ve got some great tips to help you jump off and show your man just how much he means to you…
Step One: Plan the Date First you need to decide on the date by finding out when your partner is free of other commitments and can come home early from work. To avoid a situation where you slave away preparing food only to find out he’s popped out for a post-work drink with his colleagues it’s probably a good idea to let him know you’re planning something special, just don’t go into details.
Step Two: The Menu Grab some paper and make a list of what you will need to create the right type of atmosphere. It’s not just the food you want to consider, but the little details that make the mood. Think about the food and settings your partner most enjoys – this is about him remember! Of course it pays to keep it simple, if cooking isn’t your thing don’t attempt to whip up a four course gourmet spread, you don’t want to be so stressed out you can’t relax and enjoy the evening. (We have a sample menu at the bottom of the page - it's simple, tasty and will look gorgeous).
Step Three: Create the Atmosphere The time of year will dictate where your romantic evening takes place. Deck the dinning room out with candles and flowers, assemble a comfortable rug and cushions in front of the fire place or set up an alfresco picnic in the backyard. Don’t forget to focus on music – classic jazz, soft classical or cheesy love ballads will all work with the mood you’re going for.
Step Four: Keep it Fun Before you started cooking you had to tidy up the dishes he was supposed to have done last night or empty out the rubbish bin he’s responsible for. Put your annoyance aside and don’t focus on these minor details. Avoid topics that are likely to provoke an argument. Tonight is about enjoying each other’s company not getting caught up on domestic details. Open up to each other and get stuck into the type of in-depth conversations you used to share when you first started dating.
Step Four: Finish with a Massage Good food, good wine, good conversation… chances are it’s going to put you both in the mood! Since the evening has been about your partner, pamper him with a sensuous massage (read our guide here). K-Y Brand Sensual Silk personal lubricant is the perfect product to heat things up nicely. The silky, smooth formula glides on smoothly and combined with your soft touch will create just the right intimate setting.
It’s easy to just coast along when you’re in a happy relationship, but it’s important to remember that keeping things good requires a little bit of effort. This simple to plan evening is the perfect way to remind your partner just how much you love an d appreciate him and remind you both that you’re lucky to have each other.
