1: PAKIRI BEACH Only a 90 minute drive from Auckland this hidden gem is an ideal romantic getaway with its pristine scenery, sunny weather and best of all, lack of people! If you’re after one on one time with no extra distractions, this is the place for you!
Accommodation: There are lots of cute little home stays and cottages within and around the area. Pakiri Beach Horse Rides has a range of accommodation options including riverside and beachside cottages for two, with beautiful views and private beach access! If you’d rather sleep underneath the stars pitch a tent at Pakiri Holiday Park.
Where to Eat & Drink: Take a 20 minute drive to the Leigh Sawmill Café for some of the yummiest wood fired pizzas around. It’s also a popular bar and they host regular live gigs, from some of New Zealand’s biggest names.

2: TAUPO It’s got all the right elements to make anyone fall in love; the crystal lake, the ice capped mountains and the misty air… Taupo is a beautiful town and the perfect place to relax and unwind with your boy. And if you want a bit of liveliness, a party is never too far!
Accommodation: If you feel like splurging try the Millennium Hotel and Resort. With romantic lakeside views and luxurious facilities such as a “grotto” plunge pool and an award winning restaurant, you might never want to leave the complex! For a more purse friendly option stay at the Great Lake Holiday Park. Try one of the cute, self contained tourist flats, complete with everything you will need for a comfy and relaxing stay.
Where to Eat & Drink: For a sexy, exotic meal head to the Silk Thai Restaurant. There’s nothing more romantic than delicious spicy food paired with a fabulous view across the great Lake! Taupo is known as the trout capital of New Zealand, so be sure to stop by at the Tipsy Trout and try some of the delicious fresh fish dishes. Head to the Bond Lounge Bar for a relaxing drink in a chilled atmosphere. It offers a great selection of wine, beer and cocktails, there’s sure to be the perfect poison for each of you! 3: WELLINGTON The windy city is a great romantic getaway for those wanting to keep things urban. It’s got an abundance of fabulous restaurants, cafes and bars for you both to enjoy.
Accommodation: For an uber cosmopolitan getaway book one of the many serviced apartments Wellington has to offer. Terrace Heights Apartments have stylish studio apartments which are all private and beautifully furnished.
Where to Eat & Drink: Wellington is a cultural melting pot and boosts a huge range of international cuisines. If you’re after something a bit alternative and ethnic go towards Cuba St. The Flying Burrito Brothers is an awesome Mexican restaurant with over 100 types of tequila! If you want Euro-style food in a more conventional environment, Courtenay Place is where it’s at. For a truly romantic dining experience try Café Bastille, a traditional French bistro, which serves delicious food. At night venture out towards Courtenay Place. Go to Jet Bar for a sophisticated drink or the Lotus Room if you’re after a boogie.

4: WANAKA For a complete getaway escape to Lake Wanaka. It’s a beautiful, tranquil town that will mesmerise the two of you; the perfect romantic getaway! Accommodation: There are lots of cosy little hideaways for you and your boy. If you want to be as close as possible to the outdoors stay at the Aspiring Lodge Motel or for indulgent accommodation with breath taking views, try the Edgewater Resort.
