About You
Anniversary Ideas

Anniversaries shouldn’t be about flashing your cash around but rather tuning into what the other person is about and showing how much you care.

It’s hard to come up with ideas year after year so here are some simple tips for future anniversary bliss (alternatively you might want to show this page to your partner to give them some ideas!).

The amazing race of dates
Send your partner on a mission around town following clues to find his prize... you! Have little surprises at each pit stop and a clue as to where they have to head next. Make it a bit more intimate by using places that have some special meaning to you as a couple (which also helps when making up the clues). It’s practically one big trip down memory lane.

These are a few of my favourite things..
Embrace all your traditions and communal likes and plonk
them all down in one night! This one requires minimal effort - is there a meal you both like to get? Snacks? Certain drinks? For me it used to be Mr Wedge pizza or Indian and the mandatory chilli and lime soy snacks. Together they may not be the best combo but I remember one night when my boyfriend at the time went to the supermarket and got some of my favourite foods then took me on a picnic complete with candles. I thought it was really sweet - he had put in the effort to think about my favourite things and then gone out of his comfort zone a little by cranking out the candles.

Bring the islands home
Fake your getaway for the night with a few simple decorations. You may not be able to take your partner on a romantic tropical trip so bring it to them! Break out the old Christmas lights and decorate your place with a tropical theme. Continue this with some island themed foods and a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket. You could even break out your bikini, which I’m quite positive he will appreciate…

A change of scenery
Take some time off and go for a day trip somewhere special. This could be a nice park, beach or somewhere you’ve been wanting to check out! Take along a picnic and just spend the day together. It’s simple, but effective. At the end of the day anniversaries are about spending time together. Taking the time to find somewhere nice to go and travelling outside your normal realm adds something a little different while not generating too much fuss so you get distracted from what’s important - each other.

Countdown
For each year you’ve been together have a countdown in anything from love notes to little homemade surprises or sexy lingerie on each day leading up to your anniversary. It’s always good to spread out the festivities for longer and it means you get a whole lot more lovin’! Do a small surprise each day leading up to the big one on your anniversary (you could even conclude it with one of the above ideas) for example if you’ve been together for five years that means 4 days of surprises with the final one on your actual anniversary.

Personalise these ideas with little things intimate to your relationship. Don’t forget no-one knows your partner better than you, so don’t be afraid to show them that.

Liselle
